India is currently at No. 3 in the WTC points table with 52.78 points. With South Africa already qualified for the WTC final 2025 and only 1 slot remaining for the finals, Australia has greater hands for the final, while India’s final scenarios entirely depend on Sri Lanka and New Zealand’s performances.
India lost the 4th test match by 188 runs after they were chasing 339 runs on the final day.
India was in a comfortable position with Jaiswal and Pant batting on the grounds despite losing Kohli, Rohit Sharma, and KL Rahul early in the first session.
However, the departure of Pant became the turning point of the match as India went on to lose another 3 wickets inside 12 overs.

India was bowled out inside 80 overs in the 3rd session of Day 5, and the Australians made a stronger grip for the finals.
Yashashvi Jaiswal (84) and Rishabh Pant (30) were the only 2 who managed to reach a double-digit score for India, while skipper Pat Cummins and Scott Boland shared 3-wickets each for the side, Nathan Lyon with 2 crucial wickets and Head with 1 wicket.
Jasprit Bumrah was phenomenal with the ball and picked up 30 wickets so far in the BGT Series but lacked support from the other bowler; however, this time collapsed due to their batting order.
He is just 2 wickets behind Harbhajan Singh to become the player to pick the most wickets in the BGT series.

The WTC final is set to be hosted by the iconic venue ‘The Lord’s’ for the first time from 11-15 June and 16 June as a reserve day and people are getting eager to know how can India qualify for WTC final 2025.
South Africa qualified for the WTC finals after defeating Pakistan in the 1st test match at Supersport Cricket Stadium with a PCT of 66.67 in 11 games where they won 7, lost 3, and drew 1 game.
After a 134-run defeat in the MCG on Monday, the conditions became tough for India to make it into the finals with Australia at their prime.
India needs to win the last test match, no doubt against Australia, which will improve their PCT to 55.26.
But Australia needs to lose both test matches against Sri Lanka in 2025; if so, then the PCT of Australia will be restricted at 54.26, which will let India qualify for the finals.
However, if Australia defeats India in the 5th test, then they will qualify for the Finals, ruling India out of the WTC Finals qualification scenarios.
