Why was Corbin Bosch banned from PSL for 1 year?

The 10th season of the HBL PSL is all set to turn fans on ecstasy from 11 April, with Peshawar Zalmi locking horns against defending champion Islamabad United.

However, in a recent report from the officials of the PCB, Corbin Bosch has been handed a 1-year ban in the PSL after he left Peshawar Zalmi to join Mumbai Indians in the mid-season IPL as a replacement for Lizaad Williams.

Who is Corbin Bosch?

Corbin Bosch is a South African all-rounder who is a right-handed middle-order batter and right-arm fast bowler. Corbin has played 86 T20s, having taken 59 wickets, and has recorded a highest score of 81 with the bat.

He was a part of the victorious Proteas’ U-19 team that lifted the ICC U-19 World Cup in 2014, notably winning the Player of the Match in the final for a magnificent spell of 4/15.

Why did he Left PSL?

The drama between the Corbin Bosch and PCB was nothing but a result of the overlapping of the 2 most significant T20 franchise leagues, IPL and PSL, as IPL was started on March 22, while PSL began on April 11.

He has made himself available for the PSL 10 and was picked in the diamond category by Peshawar Zalmi for 2025, but later changed his decision and withdrew from the PSL.

After Bosch’s withdrawal from the PSL, the Pakistan Cricket Board served Bosch with a legal notice and a 1-year ban from the tournament, which will restrict him from participating in the 11th edition of the tournament.

The withdrawal from the contract with the PSL resulted in him joining the Mumbai Indians as a replacement for Lizaard Williams; however, being an international T20 player, he has apologized publicly to the PCB, Peshawar Zalmi fans, and the cricket fans of Pakistan for hurting their sentiments.

Bosch wrote “I deeply regret my decision to withdraw from the PSL, and offer my sincere apologies to the people of Pakistan, the fans of Peshawar Zalmi, and the wider cricket community,” Bosch, who is yet to play for MI in IPL 2025, said in a statement released by the PCB. “I fully understand the disappointment caused by my actions.

To the loyal fans of Peshawar Zalmi, I am truly sorry for letting you down. I take full responsibility for my actions and accept the consequences, including the penalty fine and the one-year ban from the PSL. This has been a hard lesson, but I am committed to learning from this experience and hope to return to the PSL in the future with renewed dedication and the trust of the fans.”

Peshawar Zalmi has already announced George Linde as the replacement of Corbin Bosch for the 10th edition.
