S M Krishna, The former Chief Minister of Karnataka (1999-2004), S M Krishna passed away on Tuesday morning, December 10, at 92.

Late S M Krishna also served as the Governor of Maharashtra immediately after the end of his tenure as the 10th Chief Minister of Karnataka state.

The report says he had been suffering from the illness for too long and finally passed away at 92, turning the western coast into deep mourning on Tuesday morning.

He played a backbone role in turning the capital of Karnataka, Bengaluru, into the Silicon Valley of India and the incredible transformation of the IT-BT sector.

SM Krishna will be remembered for ages for his contribution to the IT sector. He inaugurated ‘Bengaluru Bio 2003 on April 15, 2003, which became the turning point for the revolution of the IT sector in India and Bengaluru as the top hub of IT.

The business community and entrepreneurs are also deeply saddened by the loss of the former CM of Karnataka state.

S M Krishna officially said goodbye to his political career in Jan 2023 as he turned 91 in 2023, and he left citing age issues from the 6-decade political career.

Karnataka state announced a 3-day mourning holiday from December 10-12 on the sad demise of the former chief minister and union minister.

The state will also observe no entertainment programs for the next 3 days, and the final rites of the former minister will be performed on Wednesday morning, according to Vokkaliga tradition (Vokkaliga is a traditional caste of south Karnataka, particularly around Mysore-Mandya) with full state honors.
