The newly appointed skipper of Pakistan White Ball cricket, Mohammad Rizwan, sets the joint-highest record with Ex-Captain of Pakistan Sarfaraz Ahmed in the second ODI match against Australia at Adelaide Oval Stadium.
Mohammad Rizwan took six catches in an inning in the second ODI match against Australia and secured a comfortable victory of 9 wickets after suffering defeat in the first match as a full-time skipper of the side.
The record for the highest catch in an ODI inning was previously named under the ex-captain of the same team, Sarfaraz Ahmed, in 2015 against South Africa at Auckland, and now both share the records for the most catches in an ODI inning.
Mohammad Rizwan was handed the white ball captaincy of Pakistan’s men’s National team after Babar Azam resigned from the leadership.
He took responsibility for the team in his hands on the Pakistan tour to Australia, where there were 3 ODI matches and 3 T2OI matches.
Rizwan and the team suffered a loss in the first match due to the batting collapse of the team as they got bundled out for just 203 runs inside 47 overs.
The team showed great efforts in the bowling but fell short of 2 wickets as Skipper Pat Cummins did the work for Australia despite losing 8 wickets.
Pakistan made a great comeback in the second ODI match, first restricting Australia to just 163 runs inside 35 overs as Harris Rauf showed his magical pace, bagging 5 wickets in his name while conceding just 29 runs in 8 overs.
Pakistan then chased the target inside 27 overs while losing only 1 wicket. The opening partnership of 137 runs gave Pakistan a strong start with Saim Ayub’s 82 runs and Abdullah Shafique’s 64 runs while Babar Azam smashed six in the end to seal the match.
The record was set by skipper Mohammed Rizwan in the same match as 4 out of 5 wickets of Harris Rauf was taken as a catch behind the stumps by Rizwan.

Mohammad Rizwan Six Catches against Australia
Mohammad Rizwan took the catch of Josh Inglis after the ball got slightly in contact with a 138.5 km/hr ball from Haris Rauf, and the umpire didn’t hesitate to raise the finger.
Marnus Labuschagne also got hunted by the pair of Rauf and Rizwan as Austalia lost their 4th wicket in the form of Labuschagne in the 16th over after the ball got edged and reached the keeper safely.
Steve Smith also got trapped behind the stumps, but this time by Muhammad Hasnain after the ball got edged and reached Rizwan’s hand.
Aaron Hardie tried hard not to smash the ball but was beaten by Rauf’s pace and became the third batter to get dismissed by the same pair of Rauf and Mohammad Rizwan from behind the stumps.
Mitchell Starc, who is himself known for his pace attacks, was dismissed by Naseem Shah in the 29th over.
World Cup-winning captain Pat Cummins also failed to protect himself from the pair, as he also got edged and taken by Mohammad Rizwan despite taking a review that went in vain, and Rizwan set the record for most catches in an ODI inning.
