Vijay Diwas 16 December, is remembered for India’s historic war victory over Pakistan after Pakistan’s General Amir Abdullah Khan Niazi surrendered with his 93,000 troops to India in 1971.

The war began on December 3 and ended on December 16; thus, December 16 is celebrated as a reminder of the bravery and courage of the Indian military forces.

After Pakistan surrendered to India, Bangladesh was recognized as an independent nation in South Asia.

The liberation of Bangladesh and India’s victory was only possible due to strategic planning for months, the courage of the people of East Pakistan, and the armed force power of India.

The joint force of India and Bangladesh forced Lieutenant General A.A.K. Niazi of the Pakistani Army on December 16, 1971, to sign the Instrument of Surrender in Dhaka.

This was the biggest surrender after World War II as 93,000 troops had surrendered.

The Prime Minister of India, Narendra Modi, also gave tribute and honor to brave soldiers on Vijay Diwas 16 December.
