Chennai Super Kings signed Anshul Kamboj for only 3.4 crores after engaging in the battle at the auction table with the Mumbai Indians, Lucknow Supergiants, and Delhi Capitals.

Anshul Kamboj is a Haryani pacer who debuted in IPL 2024 for the Mumbai Indians and has great records in the Ranji Trophy and Duleep Trophy.

CSK entered the auction table at Jeddah with 55 crore purse and signed 7 players on the first day of the IPL auction in 2024, starting with their fiery opener batter Devon Conway for 6.25 crore

CSK signed Anshul Kamboj, successfully investing 3.4 crores after Kamboj shone bright in highlight with his 10-wicket haul against Kerala.

He picked up 1 wicket haul and became only the third player in Ranji Trophy history to pick up 10 wicket hauls. He conceded only 49 runs in 30.1 overs while bagging the full team of Kerala for just 291 runs.

Anshul Kamboj debuted in the prestigious cricket league of the world in 2024 earlier with the Mumbai Indians. Mumbai Indians were also in the race to sign Kamboj in the squad, but CSK won the bid.

Who bid for Anshul Kamboj in IPL 2024 auction?

Bidding was started by Delhi Capitals on his base price of Rs. 30 lakhs, which was then challenged by CSK and LSG for 35 and 40 lakhs, respectively.

Capitals quit out earlier after they failed to sign him in his base price. LSG went up to 70 lakh with CSK and left at 70 lakhs.

Kamboj was shown interest by his ex-team Mumbai Indians. The two best teams of the IPL were running behind Kamboj.

Both teams played fiery battles from the auction table however, MI left at 3.20 crore, and CSK signed seam-all-rounder Anshul KKamboj into the squad.

  1. Haryana Pacer Anshul Kamboj is only the third player in the Ranji Trophy and the sixth Indian in first-class cricket to take a 10-wicket haul, which came against Kerala while conceding only 49 runs in 30.1 overs.
  2. He debuted in the IPL with the Mumbai Indians earlier in 2024, where he picked up 3 wickets in 2 matches.
  3. He was also the highest wicket-taker in the Duleep Trophy 2024-25 with 16 wickets for India-C.
