The first Vitality IT20 match of England vs Australia concluded with a win in the bag of Kangaroos by a margin of 28 runs with Travis Head show with the bat for the Australia.

Travis Head became Player of the Match for his excellent 59 runs in just 23 deliveries by a strike rate of 256.52 including 8 fours and 4 maximums.

Match Summary of 1st Vitality IT20

Australians were forced to bat first while losing the Coin flip as Aussies opened the inning with Travis Head and Matt Short.

Travis Head continued with the form of the last match against Scotland and started power-hitting against England too. Travis Head boosted Australia’s run rate in the power play as he got dismissed inside powerplay over after hitting 59 runs in just 23 balls. Saqib Mahmood got the first wicket with Jordan Cox taking the catch at the deep square leg.

The run rate decreased after the dismissal of the Head as Skipper Marsh returned to the pavilion for just 2 runs in the next over.

Josh Inglish and Matt Short’s partnership gave Australia another boost however Matt Short got dismissed by Liam Livingstone as Livingstone strikes in his first over.

Marcus Stoinis added 10 runs to the scoreboard while Cameron Green just 13 runs in the death overs as Australia’s tall building of net run rate completely collapsed in the last 10 overs. Australians were bold out inside 20 overs for 179 runs posting the target of 180 runs for England.

England in the second inning opened with the Skipper Phil Salt and Will Jacks however they lost Will Jacks in just 2nd love of the inning for just 6 runs as Sean Abbott strikes in his first over.

Jordan Cox at No.3 returned to the pavilion after adding just 17 runs in 12 deliveries as Xavier Bartlett got his first wicket.

Liam Livingstone also shines with the bat for England in a difficult situation when Skipper Salt’s inning ended with just 20 runs inside the power play overs further decreasing England to 46/3 at the end of the power play.

Liam Livingstone batted well in the middle overs but the wickets keep on falling from the other end for the England side.

The debutant Jacob Bethell at the age of 𝟮𝟬 𝘆𝗲𝗮𝗿𝘀, 𝟯𝟮𝟰 𝗱𝗮𝘆𝘀 got dismissed by Adam Zampa for just 2 runs while Sam Curran also departed adding 18 runs to the boards.

England’s side was in huge trouble as they were reduced to 128/8 inside 16 overs while still needing 52 runs to win the match in the remaining 24 deliveries with Adil Rashid and Saqib Mahmood in the strike.

Adil Rashid got caught by Cameron Green with a perfect catch as Marcus Stoinis got his first wicket in his third over.

The last man Reece Topley in at the crease as England’s side was already pushed outside the game and come back was nowhere possible for this side.

Saqib Mahmood also got dismissed in the last over as Sean Abbott cleaned up the job for the Australian side sealing 28 runs victory in the first Vitality IT20 match of England vs Australia.
