Pakistan lost to Nepal in U-19 Women's Asia Cup

Pakistan lost their second consecutive match in the U-19 Women’s Asia Cup, this time against the associate nation Nepal, and were eliminated from the tournament.

Pakistan had earlier lost to India in their first match and faced their second defeat at the Bayuemas Oval, Kuala Lumpur, by 6 wickets against Nepal in the U-19 Women’s Asia Cup.

Match Summary

Pakistan U-19W won the coin-flip session of the match and elected to bat first, opened the inning with Komal Khan and Fizza Fiaz.

Nepal got a breakthrough early in the inning, dismissing the opener batter, Fizza Fiaz, for a duck in the 3rd delivery of the first over by Puja Mahato.

Pakistan lost another wicket inside the power play over and was reduced to 27/2 at the end of the first power play overs.

Pakistan struggled with the run rate against the bowling of the young associate side and added only 50 runs in the middle overs.

Opening batter Komal Khan looks settled; however, she struggled with the run rate against the cardiac kids of Nepal and got dismissed in the 15th over.

She added 38 runs in 43 deliveries, including 2 boundaries, at a strike rate of 88.37.

Maham Anees scored an unbeaten 29 runs in 38 deliveries while skipper Zoofishan Ayyaz scored 12 runs in 15 deliveries.

Pakistan was restricted to just 104 runs, despite losing only 5 wickets, after adding another 27 runs in the death overs in a do-or-die situation against Nepal.

Nepal in the run chase started pretty well, scoring 18 runs in the first 2 overs; however, they were restricted to 27 runs in the power play over at the loss of 1 wicket only.

Puja Mahato from Nepal batted till the last to ensure they were through the line in their first encounter of the U-19 Women’s Asia Cup and also became the Player of the Match.

Sony Pakhrin scored 13 runs in 20 deliveries while Seemana Kc played an unbeaten 12 runs in 12 deliveries with skipper Mahato.

Nepal chased down the target in just 18.6 overs and won the first match of the U-19 Women’s Asia Cup, while Pakistan lost their second match and was eliminated from the U-19 Womens Asia Cup.

On the other side, Bangladesh Women U-19 defeated Sri Lanka U-19 by 28 runs.

Nepal U-19 will meet India U-19 on December 17 in its final group-stage match at Kuala Lumpur in the U-19 Women’s Asia Cup.
