IPl Auction 2024 started at Jeddah on 24 November as records started breaking on the auction table as the franchise went on deep to sign players on their franchise.
Earlier, Shreyas Iyer became the most expensive player in IPL history after the Punjab Kings bought him for 26.75 crores.
However, the record of Iyer was immediately broken by Rishabh Pant after Lucknow Supergiants went to the end of the rope to sign Rishab Pant in the squad for a whopping 27 crores.

IPL Auction set-1 Top 7 Buys
1. Rishab Pant
Pant was sold to the Lucknow Super Giants for a whopping 27 crores in the auction table, breaking all the records and becoming the most expensive player in the history of IPL.
Pant was earlier with the Delhi Capitals, but the Capitals didn’t retain him and shocked the cricket world with their retentions.
2. Shreyas Iyer
IPL-winning captain of the last edition, Shreyas Iyer, was left to go on the auction table by Knight Riders after they did not retain him before the auction.
Iyer went on to become the second most expensive player in IPL history for a whopping Rs. 26.75 crore to the Punjab Kings.

3. Arshdeep Singh
Arshdeep Singh is the first pick of the IPL auction 2024. Punjab Kings did the first signing of the auction for Rs 18 crore.
Arshdeep Singh previously played for the Punjab Kings, as the Punjab Kings used RTM to sign Singh to the squad.
4. Yuzvendra Chahal
Leg spinner Yuzvendra Chahal was sold to the Pujab Kings for 18 crores. Chahal was part of RCB for a long; however, he parted ways with RCB and joined the Rajasthan Royals.
Chahal was bagged by the Punjab Kings this time for a whopping 18 crores to their squad. Pacer Arshdeep Singh was also signed by Kings for the 2025 edition.
5. Jos Buttler
Jos Buttler was signed by the Gujarat Titans for 15.75 crores, the highest an overseas player was bought for in the first set.
Jos Buttler was part of the Rajasthan Royals in the previous edition; however, from now onwards he will be opening with Shubman Gill for the Titans.
6. KL Rahul
Delhi Capital made the smartest move in the first set of the IPL auction 2024 by signing KL Rahul for just 14 crores.
KL Rahul was one of the names expected to break the records of the most expensive player of the IPL 2024, but the shocking signing of KL Rahul after Rahul’s name didn’t light up the franchise in the auction table.
KL Rahul parted ways with LSG as there was some dispute between the owner of LSG, Sanjeev Goenka, and Rahul in 2024.
7. Mohammad Siraj
Mohammad Siraj was signed in by the Gujarat Titans for 12.25 crores. Titans suffered a major setback in IPL 2024, missing their key pacer Mohammad Shami; however, they’re now up with Siraj.
Siraj has been part of RCB for a while, but RCB parted ways with Siraj as they didn’t retain him.
